All of This and Nothing- Eye Am Camera

Eye Am Camera is a newly-formed art collaborative project co-founded by a group of artists, friends and lovers. This organic group does not have any fixed members but aims to promote and inspire emerging based visual artists.

Unlike most exhibitions, our exhibition did not have an opening night but instead it had a closing party. The concept of this project is to create an enjoyable experience between artists and audience alike. We want to show the art world that an exhibition does not have to circulate around the materiality of money, to sell or buy a product or have an expensive presentation. Our aim for the closing party was for each member of the audience to be able to take a print they like home with them and to create a new human connection with an artist and their work.

Artist Statement

Photography is the documentation of life that we live and that which we choose to share. We create pictures that capture the trivial moments in our lives that make up who we are. We are trying to make life more interesting by pointing out the small, chance happenings that people do not normally notice. There’s so many of us now; how can we show you how we see the world? Who are we to you?

From a medium that was born out of physicality, we have reached a near 360°. Our pictures exist as illuminated pixels on some manner of display, represented by subatomic particles on tiny silicon cities in our electronic devices. Let's, for once, try and get people touching ink on sliced trees instead.

We hate to love making art, in a climate that loves to hate artists. They didn't tell us at school how art makes you poor, and poor you just makes art. And so we decided to create a show around an idea rather than set up a room with objects to sell. Bring it back to basics.

Everything and nothing...it'll all lead to something. We hang them, we look at them and we give everything away.
